A brief overview on Honolulu Hostels

Oahu is known as the ‘gathering place’ and the fact that it’s home to three quarters of the Hawaiian population as well as the favored destination for four and a half million tourists every year should offer some indication as to how this name came about.
The main hub in Oahu is Honolulu and there are lots of hostels in Honolulu and nearby Waikiki for some surfing lessons. If surfing is not your thing, there are also plenty of shops, museums, aquarium and the Pearl Harbour to visit. If you would prefer to watch the pro-surfers or a bit of a pro yourself, head to the north shore of Oahu. The hub of the north shore is the town of Haleiwa, a very laid back surfing town.

Hawaiian Backpakers have known for years that hosteling is indeed a great way to savor its authentic beauty on a small budget. Hawaii hostels aren't just for backpackers anymore. Oahu has a variety of hostels, from a popular backpacker's hangout on the North Shore to city hostels in Honolulu and Waikiki with private rooms. Besides saving money, hosteling, like camping, makes it easy to meet and build friendships with fellow travelers.

Note: Honolulu hostels vary greatly in ambiance and friendliness, so when researching further, check reviews before you choose one.
